The handles, aging, and generous shape make this Valley Thrift find feel more like a genie lamp than a bowl.
The find and repair
The $5.99 handled bowl measures 12 inches tall and 14 inches across the opening. It was dirty and appeared uneven, but the bowl was simply loose on its threaded pedestal.
The pieces were unscrewed, cleaned, and reassembled straight and tight. A few dots of craft glue were added to the threads before final assembly, and both handles were checked for security before the bowl was filled with foam.
The jewel-garden plan
This world will feature flowers and jewels cascading over the sides. A real morning-glory vine already growing in the flowerbed can be gently guided around the base and back toward its trellis, allowing the living garden to interact with the artificial miniature flowers.
The wish list includes a real glass compact mirror with vintage detail, plus gems from the newly thrifted jewelry jars. The scene will develop over time instead of being forced into a finished look all at once.
